thanksgiving is coming and our elf is making his debut the day after! there are no shortage of elf placement ideas floating around, but the arrival is as much fun as the day to day elf shuffle! every morning the children expect the elf to move, but that first arrival date is the big surprise…they have no clue he is going to be hiding in the morning! while i could just plop chip (our elf’s name) in a cereal bowl to be sure the boys see him, i was looking for something a little more creative this year. child1.0 is getting older so i want to keep his attention, and toddler2.0 is being reintroduced to the elf.

1. announce the arrival via dry erase!

2. show up with an advent calendar

5. the visiting elf

PicMonkey Collagethe visiting elf makes handmade footprint stamps you use with either baking soda or corn starch to create little footprints on the rug. the stamps come in a little discreet bag you can even reuse for a gift if you wanted to! as i said im using these footprints the night our elf arrives, to lead the boys to the hiding spot. you can use these any night and it would be fun! im already imagining the scenes you could set up and play out with the white footprints… make them lead to an elf snowball fight, elf making a marshmallow snowman, flour snow angel. the possibilities are limitless! one reader is going to win an elf kit (includes right and left foot stamps, red storage bag, and elf tracking sheet) from visiting elf below! you can find visiting elf on etsy!
